Trash Collection
Trash will be collected weekly, on Wednesday.
To help protect our employees, we strongly encourage that ALL HOUSEHOLD TRASH BE PLACED IN BAGS inside the CWD-provided grey 95-gallon trash cart. Up to 5 bags of trash outside of the cart will be accepted.
Place all trash items out no later than 7:00 am for pickup between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on your service days. Please ensure all trash containers and the recycle cart are separated by at least three feet, and three feet away from obstacles such as mailboxes, cars, fences, gas meters, and drainage ditches.
All 95-gallon carts and recycling containers shall not be stored at curbside. Carts and recycling containers shall be returned within 24 hours after scheduled pickup. They shall be returned to a sight line within or adjoining the residence or inside a storage area which is located behind the front building line of your residence.
Recycling Services

Recycling Guidelines
Bulk & Brush
Bulky waste and brush will be collected on your regular trash day. You are limited to two cubic yards of bulky waste and loose brush per collection.
Important! CWD does not provide pickup for commercial demolition, construction, nor remodeling debris. Household debris must be containerized to be eligible for pickup. The box or other disposable container must be no larger than 2′ x 2′ x 4′ and weigh no more than 50 pounds.
Place all bulky waste and brush items next to your trash receptacle no later than 7:00 a.m. on your designated trash day.
Brush
Tree limbs must be placed with trunks parallel to the street without obstructing the sidewalk. Individual items or bundles must weigh less than 50 pounds, and be no longer than 10 feet. Tied and bundled brush may be set out in unlimited quantities.

- Furniture
- Bundled Carpet in 4-foot Lengths
- Fence Panels No Larger than 4′ x 6′
- Washing Machines, Dryers, Water Heaters and Kitchen Appliances
- Refrigerators/Freezers (Must be tagged certifying removal of refrigerants)
Bulk Items – Prohibited
- Single Items Weighing More than 150 lbs.
- Commercial Construction and Remodeling Debris
- Household Hazardous Waste
- Tires, Batteries, and Propane Tanks
- Loose Debris (Debris must be placed in a box or other container no larger than 2′ x 2′ x 4′ and weigh no more than 50 pounds.)
Additional Trash and Bulk Items
Special collection of items that do not fit into the bulk category must be arranged through CWD and are subject to an additional charge for collection.
Residents must call CWD (972.392.9300) by noon on Friday for a Saturday collection on their scheduled week.
X-treme Green Event
CWD will host one X-treme Green Event per year in the City of Lavon.
An X-treme Green Event is a one-stop place to dispose of household hazardous waste, automotive tires, used electronics, and household metal goods.
Confidential document shredding is also available on site.

Q How do I get my trash cart replaced if it is damaged by the trash or has normal wear and tear? Does it cost anything?
A Please call CWD at 972.392.9300. There is not a cost for replacement unless the damage is caused by fire. If the damage is caused by fire there is a replacement cost.
