Allen LogoRecyclables can all be commingled in your blue 95-gallon recycling cart. Recycling services are provided every other week, on the same day as your trash service. Please see schedule map at bottom of page.

Carts must be properly placed by 7 a.m. on your pickup day. 
  • Dry un-yellowed newspapers (including inserts), phone books, magazines catalogs, and junk mail may be placed either in the bottom of your bin or beside it in a brown paper sack.
  • Shredded paper (please place in paper bag to avoid scattering during collection)
  • Corrugated containers that are broken down.
  • Chipboard containers that are broken down. Chipboard, or paperboard, is used to make tissue boxes, cereal boxes, shoe boxes, etc.
  • Acceptable containers are:
  • plastic bottles #'s 1 - 5 and #7 (numbers can be found inside chasing arrows on side or bottom of bottles)
  • flattened aluminum drink cans
  • tin/steel cans, empty aerosol cans
  • unbroken glass bottles and jars
All Containers Must be Rinsed.

The cart should be placed at the edge of the driveway and road with the lid COMPLETELY CLOSED with the handle facing the residence. Parked vehicles and other obstacles (i.e., gas meters, fences, electrical boxes, cable boxes, etc.) should be at least 2 feet from the trash cart.

A one-time service to collect flattened and stacked cardboard boxes is provided to new resident move-ins. New residents must call the city (214.509.4500) by noon Friday to make arrangements for this one-time cardboard collection for next-day pickup on Saturday. Wrapping paper (no bubble-wrap or foam) from the boxes may be placed in a large cardboard container and collected during the same-day service.
