Household Hazardous Waste & Used Electronics

CWD’s Door-side Collection Program encourages safe, easy, and responsible disposal of approved hazardous waste and electronics.

CWD’s Door-side Collection Program is dedicated to the city and its residents, ensuring that hazardous materials are disposed of properly to avoid injury and contamination of our environment.

Acceptable vs. Unacceptable

Items accepted via the HHW & Used Electronics Door-side Collection Program include poison, solvent, oil-based and latex paints, aerosols, used motor oil, auto batteries, fluorescent tubes, and flat screen televisions (CRTs not accepted).  Refer to the list provided to you with your HHW & Used Electronics Door-side Collection kit for additional information.

We cannot accept business or at-home business waste through this program.

On Collection Day

  1. Put your household hazardous waste inside the bag, using only the bag provided to you.  Please do not overfill the bag, and close it securely with the zip tie provided.
  2. Place electronics, auto batteries, and/or fluorescent tubes in cardboard boxes and place them outside the bag.  Wrap fluorescent tubes together with tape if you have more than one.  If available, use the original packaging to hold the tubes and stand them up to prevent breakage.
  3. By 7:00 a.m., place the secured bag at your doorstep, where CWD will pick it up.  Do not place the bag in or near an alley, curb, nor street.  Do not allow children nor pets access to the bag.

Community Waste Disposal is able to offer a customized program to encourage yard waste recycling and composting. This program requires that leaves and grass clippings are placed in biodegradable bags to maximize our ”green” efforts. Plastic bags, food waste, and any un-natural or foreign debris are prohibited.

Community Waste Disposal makes it easy for your community members to recycle by making your events GREEN! The more products sent to a recycling facility means LESS WASTE sent to our local landfills!

During a GREEN event, CWD employees will be available to deliver, set up, and maintain Recycling Depots. In addition, trash carts are available and placed next to the depots, with the intention of keeping your event CLEAN.

Making your community AWARE of your dedication to the environment by hosting a GREEN event not only promotes recycling, but also creates a sense of accomplishment among participants.

For more information, check out CWD’s Green Events brochure!

X-treme Green Events encourage residents to help their community by creating a place where they can bring their recyclable materials.  Along with household hazardous waste (HHW), residents can bring household metal goods, used electronics, and automotive tires.  An on-site document shredding service is also available.

The X-treme Green Events will fill a niche that is sorely lacking in many residential waste and recycling removal of programs.  CWD manages these events and customizes each according to the needs of the city.
